Our Story.
Ping Pong Hub was founded and registered in 2023 by two table tennis players, Zodwa and Athi.
Having been afforded a sponsorship opportunity as a young child, Zodwa felt the need to start a movement that will afford underprivileged players the same opportunities that were afforded to her growing up. The pair felt the need to start a South African brand that promotes inclusivity and caters to everyone from all walks of life.
Zodwa Maphanga
Zodwa is a well decorated table tennis player having represented South Africa from as early as 12 years old. Zodwa has represented South Africa at the All Africa Games, Commonwealth Games, Region 5 Championships and multiple World Table Tennis Championships.
Recently, Zodwa has added National Coach accolades to her list of achievements after being appointed to coach the African Youth Championships as well as the African Senior Championships. In 2024, she attended a month long training course in China. Zodwa is the only player in South African table tennis to have benefitted from the G4S 4teen sponsorship which was the basis of establishing Ping Pong Hub.
Athi Mda
Athi refers to herself as a retired table tennis player that plays recreationally although, she would still give you a run for your money. Athi has two National caps under her belt having represented South Africa at the Region 5 Championships as well as the African Senior Championships.
Athi brings tons of experience as she worked for the National Table Tennis Federation for 8 years. Adding to her experience, she is also a qualified ITTF Level 1 Coach and a National Course Conductor.

Empowerment of women and girls
Ping Pong Hub founded by females as an advocate for the empowerment of women and girls in sport. We believe that women and girls need to be afforded the same opportunities as men and boys.
Increased Participation
As part of vision 2030, we aim to increase participation of women and girls by rolling out projects that encourage female participation.
Fairness
We believe that the playing field should be level for all those participating in the sport.
